Who We Are
Mukuru Slums Development Projects – MSDP is a locally registered Non-Governmental Organization in Nairobi, Kenya. It was founded in 2002 with seven community based organizations merging. In 2006, the seven CBOs were registered as MSDP.
MSDP operates within Mukuru slums and the adjoining areas. It intervenes through various initiatives and programmes in assisting the poor and vulnerable residents in improving and empowering their lifestyles.
Our Work
Our Thematic Focus: Livelihoods, Child protection and Youth development, Education, Vocational skills training and Health.
Education
Improving quality basic education through improving school governance, infrastructure and supporting the target pupils with educational kits i.e. uniforms , bags , shoes and cash transfers to the parents.
Livelihoods
Supporting women and youth start IGAs , entrepreneurship training , assist youth acquire Identity cards. Supporting Group Saving and loaning.
Children and Youth
Sports for social and behavior change for children and youth. Rescue, rehabilitation and reintegration (3R’s) of street boys as well as school enrollment for out of school boys. Peer education to help address challenges the children & youth face in informal settlements.
Vocational Skills Trainings
Skills training in Hairdressing and Beauty; Plumbing and masonry; Catering and Beverages; ICT, Early Childhood Development; and Outside catering for income generation.
Health
Voluntary Counselling and Testing, post-test clubs, psychotherapy programs , counselling and reproductive health.

MSDP recognizes the rights of all children within our care to be protected from harm in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). MSDP takes seriously its duty of care, and undertakes to create an organisation that is safe for children where all efforts are made to prevent abuse.
MSDP sees the best interests of the child as paramount.
